Happy New Year!

Well, it's finally here, New Year's Eve. We're almost done with 2008 and it can't get here soon enough. Yet another rotten year for so many people. With so many losing their jobs, life savings and retirement funds as well as their homes, I think we're all ready for a fresh start.

Lets use this as an ending for the bad in our lives. At midnight (after your kiss), open the door and sweep out all the negatives from your life. It's snowing and cold here, but I'll give it a try. Can't hurt and there is enough negatives going around that need removed.

I hope everyone has a bright and wonderful 2009!

Camera Critters 36

Decided to stick close to home with this week's entry. This is the evil Darth Mittens. Yes, she is also a Steelers' fan. :) She's all ready for today's game between the Steelers and the Ravens. If we win, we clinch the division.

Skywatch Friday 22

Keeping with my Gettysburg theme, I took this when we were there for our 20th anniversary in August. Guess I'm just feeling nostalgic tonight and wanted to revisit some of my happy memories.

Photo Hunter: Favorite

This week's theme for Photo Hunt is favorite. I'm choosing my favorite place to visit - Gettysburg, PA. I know it might sound strange, but when we go to the town, I always feel at peace. It's a sad place, you can feel the weight of the thousands of young men and boys who were taken too soon, but it feels like I'm home. We try to get there every year.

Devil's Den is one of those places where hundreds were killed during battle. When it came time to clean up the bodies, the people just threw them in the cracks of the rocks. Until they began to decompose, then they had to try and scoop them out. Didn't work too well.

It's not a gruesome place at all. Last time we were there, Randy and I stayed on the rocks until the park closed at 10 p.m. I wasn't scared at all, even when he had me step back inside the rocks for a photo. Maybe I was there in a previous life and that's why I love it so much?

Camera Critters

When we were at Busch Gardens over the summer, we had to stop and see the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales. The horses are massive. Their hooves are bigger than my head!

OJ Simpson - Justice Served?

Most of us can remember that slow motion car chase with his white bronco back in 1994. I was pregnant with my son and remember watching that and the "trial of the century." Sad commentary on life in the USA at that time. The HUGE difference in opinion, based mainly on the skin color of the person asked. He was found innocent of brutally slaughtering his ex-wife and her friend, but he was later found guilty during a civil trial.

He should have stayed in the shadows after that. His life was ruined. Nobody wanted to touch him. Now he's back in a courtroom and has been found guilty of kidnapping and armed robbery. Today is the sentencing. I'm glued to TruTV to see if Nicole and Ron will finally find some justice. I imagine I'm not the only one.

UPDATE: He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, and has to serve at least 7 1/2 years before he can be considered for parole. Do you think it was enough for what he did? I feel sorry for his daughter, but he should have received much more.
