Trick or Treat Time

For the first year ever, I wasn't able to go trick-or-treating with my kids. :( They went with a group of friends and I stayed home watching "scary" movies on Sci Fi Channel.

My daughter took her camera along and got quite a few photos for me, so I'll be able to see the fun once I get them downloaded. When they got home, they let me take a few photos to scrapbook with. My daughter was a black cat and my son a ring wraith. He loves the Lord of the Rings novels and has been that same character for the past few years.

They went on a ghost walk Friday night. I really wanted to go, but it was raining and everyone was afraid I'd slip and rip out some of the 16 staples in my stomach. My son videotaped it for me though, so I get to experience it anyway. There's always next year, right?

Thanks for all the sweet comments while I'm healing. It's nice to log on and see someone actually reads this.

The staples come out on Thursday morning!!! I'll be able to get out walking on Friday and get back to physical therapy for my shoulder. Not sure when I'm able to drive again, hopefully soon. I hate being stuck in here!!! There's just not much to do or photograph. My poor camera thinks I've abandoned it.

What is everyone's plans for Samhain/Halloween? I'll be right here (of course) watching Sci Fi's Ghosthunters' live episode. No parties this year although my costume is really good as Frankenstein's Bride.

Off line for a bit

I just got word I'll be having surgery in the morning. I knew it would happen this year, but didn't expect it this fast. I should discharged Monday afternoon, but it'll take a bit til I'm back on my feet.

I'll leave you with a photo of this bull elk I saw today when I was working.

If you have a minute, think a happy thought for me tomorrow at 8 a.m. The surgery will last 3-4 hours.

Thanks all!

Hospital Visit

Thursday was a pretty bad day around here. Randy had to go have a wart removed from his thumb. No biggie, we thought and he went without me. He called me from the doctor's office to say he had to go have an EKG. Ummm ..... to have a wart removed? No, because he was having chest pain. OK, come get me first. No, it was no biggie, he'd have it and be home for dinner.

So, I sit and wait. I was supposed to cover a forestry meeting that night, but called another reporter to take it for me. Don't know why, but I did.

Finally, about an hour later, he calls and says, he's being taken to the hospital and could I get a ride to pick up the car? WHAT???? No biggie, they were putting in an IV to take him right up. ARGGGHHHH!!!!!

So, I call his mother to get me and take the kids to her house. I get in the car and fly to the hospital. It's about 30 minutes away, I made it in 15 and beat the ambulance.

They get him into the ER and again, it's no biggie, they'll do the blood tests and can go home. RIGHT! They admit him. I don't have my night medicines or anything because he was so sure it would be just a quick thing. I ran out of the house and didn't have my normal overnight stuff. Never again.

We get him settled in a room and they bring in a torture rack ... er .... reclining chair for me and we settle in for the night. Every two hours or less, someone is in to take blood or do some test or another. He's had more than enough and started asking for the doctor because he wanted to go home.

He's finally released at 2:30 the next afternoon. No heart attack, it's the cartlidge around his ribs that's causing the pain. What a relief! He needs to have a stress test and echocardiogram next week.

So, how was YOUR day?

Scare Fair

Spent yesterday in DuBois at a scare fair. A local costume shop puts it on and this was their second year.

John Franklin ("Cousin Itt" from Addams Family movies) was there to sign autographs and pose for photos. Also had Dave Tango from Sci Fi's Ghosthunters there.
They were both very fan friendly and loved to talk to everyone. They personalized every autograph and would sign whatever you put in front of them.

There were also a bunch of different tables of things for the kids to do. Just in time for Halloween season, there was a make up seminar to teach you how to create the monster effects. It was a completely free event. They even fed us pizza and energy drinks. :)

I STOOD BY YOUR BED LAST NIGHT

A friend sent this to me this morning and I've been crying ever since. Thought I'd share it. It's been almost three months since I lost my precious Adonis and I miss him so. The line in the poem about coming home really got me. That's the last thing I told him, "Go home and wait for me, my love."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I STOOD BY YOUR BED LAST NIGHT
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peek.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew,
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.
