Thursday's images

I'm behind, as usual, but there are my Wordless Wednesday images. Will post more after the Swiss Steak fundraising dinner tonight.

Where in Ridgway are these carvings being done? Is parking adequate? I would love to attend the festivities on Saturday.

It's held at the former Motion Control building. If you're coming down Montmorenci, it's straight through the light at the bottom of the hill.

Parking is probably always an issue, but St. Leos Catholic Church is allowing people to park at their lot and take a shuttle to the rendezvous.

It's well worth it if you've never been to one. This is the premiere event in the entire world to see the carvers in a non-competitive atmosphere. Everyone is wonderful there and are more than happy to stop and talk to anyone and they love to have their photos taken. How often do we find that?

Anyhoo, if you do end up on the way, PLEASE call me! I so want a chance to meet you. We could stop at the best Italian place in the town and split a pizza or calzone. :) You have my numbers, right?

Anyone reading these, please drop me a line if you stop in. There's a welcome center on Main Street in Ridgway and they have a book to ask what brought you to town. Please take a minute to sign it and let them know the chainsaw carving rendezvous and of course, little ole Gretchen Rokosky. :) It's a personal joke between the Manager and me.

Chainsaw carving is remarkable. Having used a chainsaw professionally I underderstand just how difficult it is. They use special bars and chains that minimize "kick back" that can injure or kill you. I had a logger friend who had his head decapitated when his saw kicked back.
