Camera Critters #27

Thought I'd post a bit smaller hoofed animal today and used a Pennsylvania white tailed deer. It amazes me how every hunting season, some Yahoo will shoot a bull elk (you've seen how massive those things are) and claim they thought it was a deer. Said Yahoo will still lose his license, gun and the elk as well as get a MASSIVE fine, but it still happens. Always drives me crazy to see.

If you want to join the in the fun, stop over at Camera Critters homepage and learn all about it.

"Parfois, il y a une biche qui vient sur ma pelouse, mais je n'arrive pas à la photographier..."

Have a good day !

Those Yahoos! What were they thinking... ? Even I can tell the difference between a deer & an elk, and the closes elk is probably two states away.

Happy Weekend.

Beautiful photo!
I lived in a rural farming town in Ct. and every few years some city twit would shoot a Jersey cow and claim they thought it was a deer.

Gretchen: What a neat shot of the resting deer. There is no way someone can think an Elk is a deer. They must be shooting at movement. that is the way people get shot.

An excellent capture, Gretchen. One of my favorite animals. I would have to say that it would be a toss up between deer and elk as to my favorite species to pursue with the camera.

As you say, it is unbelievable that someone mistakes an elk for a deer!

Hi Gretchen! What a cutie. Not that I know that much about deer or elk for that matter, but one could never mistake an elk for a deer. It seems like a small price to pay for their actions. What morons. Lisa

White-tail Deer does look very much like the Mule Deer doe here. However, it's easy to tell the difference in the bucks. 8v)

It's a gentle looking creature. It's sad how beautiful creatures perish in the hands of hunters.
