Last night there was a terrific thunderstorm, so hubby and I were standing out on the porch just clicking away. I got a few decent shots and wanted to share them with everyone.

I'm sorry you didn't get a chance at the elk on your trip, but that is the way it is sometimes. I know I can go out one day and not see any or at least very many and then on another occasion they are everywhere you turn.
Also you wrote a wonderful tribute to your father-in-law and I am very sorry about your loss.
Nicely foreboding photos. Good capture of the lightning....I can never catch lightning in photos. Happy skywatching!
