Elk Viewing Groundbreaking
This one was a bit different, there were too many speeches, of course, but one really cool thing was a Native American from the Seneca Nation was invited to do a blessing ceremony. WOW! Never expected that! The only bad thing is they didn't have him mic'd, so we couldn't really hear what he was saying (and I was in the front row).
After the final speech and dinner, we went to see the elk. (Where the skywatch photo was taken) At this time of the year, they are bugling and absolutely gorgeous! I missed this buck sparring over a cow by only a few minutes. If you've never heard that sound, you really are missing out on a great experience. This was our first time to hear it. It just sends chills up your spine when you hear these huge male animals challenging each other.

Wonderful photos from another side of the world to mine. That picture of the elk at night is awesome. He is magnificent and intimidating. Thank you for visiting me too.

I would have given anything to see that event. What a wonderful experience, and I enjoyed your photos very much. Those migraines can be incredibly debilitating. I hope you feel better now.

nice picture of the elk
Nice elk pic with white eyes.
Hi Gretchen! Government officials do talk a lot, but never seem to say anything or anything of interest.
The blessing ceremony must have been unbelievable. What a shame that he didn't have a mic. That would have been worth hearing.
Awesome elk picture. Very impressive creature.
I hope the migraine is gone now. A friend in work gets them and sometimes she is hurting for several days. Take care of yourself. Lisa
Many beautiful picture here. Hope you fine.

I hope some day I get to see the wild reintroduced Elk in our area.
For now we have only the moose to be intimidating!
That is amazing! I would love to hear what they sound like! You get to experience such cool events, Gretchen!
